Purple can be a bit edgy. Or dainty and girly. But not just for the female, purple has been popular in mens fashion lately… Perhaps purple is the new pink?

Why Pick Purple to Represent You or Your Business?

Popular companies and organizations that use purple in their logo and branding materials including Cadbury, Hallmark, Yahoo, FedEx, Monster (job search), Craigslist, Scentsy (shout out to my wife!) and more.

If you are wondering what the best color for your business or brand might be, you might choose purple as the color is often associated with…

  • Royalty
  • Nobility
  • Fantasy
  • Spirituality
  • Mystery
  • Dignity
  • Luxury

Purple can be royal, regal and luxurious. Try a shade of purple like lilac or lavender for a different feel.

But the flip side?

Purple is the WORST Color for Logos, Web Design and Business Branding

Maybe? It’s true. Maybe.

When would purple be a mistake for your brand?

And often, purple can be associated with the following terms:

  • Arrogance
  • Cruelty
  • Excess

I don’t understand some of these negative terms. I mean, I see where green = money = greed to some. But how is cruelty associated with purple? It’s just some thoughts based on my research of color meanings and theory.

But again, I tend to focus on the positive color associations and take the negative ones with a grain of salt. Ultimately the decision is up to you.

Let me know in the comments below what you think about the color purple or your other favorite color for business.

  • I love purple! It has many positive connotations for me. I can only imagine the “cruelty” image might come from the mis-use of royal power?
