The best color for you business brand is yellow!

The Best Color for Logos, Web Design and Business Branding is Yellow.

Or is it? If you haven’t guessed by now, I’m going through the rainbow here. See previous posts on red and (my favorite) orange.

If you are just starting out in business or gearing up for a redesign of your branding materials, you might be wondering what the perfect color or colors is best to represent your brand. What color is best for business? What color is best for logo design? You want something that represents you and your industry, colors that make sense in your niche.

Forget what I’ve said before The best color for business branding is…

The Best Color for Logos, Web Design and Business Branding is Yellow.

Is yellow the best color for your business branding?Maybe. To continue our study on world-famous brands, that’s focus on businesses that use the color yellow in their branding.

I despise this place (just my own standards and beliefs) but it has to be the most famous yellow logo. I’m not going to say the name cause you have to know what this is, right?

Why Pick Yellow to Represent You or Your Business?

Popular companies and organizations that use yellow in their logo and branding materials including the Yellow Pages, Sprint, Lance Armstrong.

Is yellow the best color for your business branding?
All of these organizations have different reasons for selecting yellow. If you are wondering what the best color for your business or brand might be, you might choose yellow as the color is often associated with…

  • High Energy
  • Curiosity
  • Warmth
  • Sunshine
  • Happiness
  • Playfulness

Like red and orange, yellow is bright and eye-catching.

Yellow is bound to get attention.

NYC taxi cabs are yellow to stand out against the sea of people, traffic and congestion. To catch your attention against the dull browns and grays of the city landscape.

But the flip side?

Yellow is the WORST Color for Logos, Web Design and Business Branding

Yep. It sure could be. Sometimes it’s just too bright. Yellow type against white is hard to read and, generally, hard on the eyes.

Yellow might be a mistake for your brand. It can come across unprofessional, as most corporations tend to stick with blue, gray and black with an occasional green.

Often, yellow is associated with the following terms:

  • Youthful
  • Immature
  • Unprofessional
  • Dishonest

Ultimately the decision is up to you. Let me know in the comments below what you think about the color yellow or your other favorite color for business.

Very interesting article on color theory in advertising. Yellow is a tough one – but is bold and vibrant. My personal preference is Purple {like the crayon, not lavender}. I look forward to your other color articles.

Loving this series. I’m in the middle of a long-term blog redesign; and I’m probably going to stick with yellow as my main color. Probably keeping more of a darker golden tone to avoid the hard to read on white backgrounds problem. — looking forward to the rest of your series!

Before we hit ALL the colors in the rainbow (lol) will you give us a HINT at how we should start narrowing down our choices? Just liking a color doesn’t mean it’s right for your business. Hmm … now what? Guess I’ll stay tuned :) Thanks Rob!

Kim: I’m so glad you found a color that works for you and your brand. I usually think sunshine and warmth when I think yellow, too.

Rob, I had no idea that the color yellow could mean dishonest! In light of what’s going on with Lance Armstrong…it all makes sense! Loving this color series.

I wouldn’t have thought “dishonest” either. I guess every color has a dark side. Lol. But yeah, I tend to stay positive and look on the bright side of things. So with yellow, I just go with sunshine and happiness.

I would go for red for sure. Thanks Rob for making it clear why not to choose yellow (in my case).
